Our Philosophy

Noted is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. We designed Noted to run in the background of your life without getting in the way — and that same philosophy applies to how we handle your information. We collect only what we need to make the product work, we process as much as possible on your device, and we give you full control over your data at all times.

What We Collect

Audio and Transcripts. When you use Noted's recording features, the software captures system audio and, if enabled, microphone input from your device. Audio is processed to generate transcripts and AI-powered notes. Where on-device processing is available, audio is transcribed locally on your machine and is not transmitted to our servers. When cloud processing is used, audio data is transmitted securely, processed, and not retained beyond what is necessary to deliver your notes.

Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and payment information (for paid plans). Payment processing is handled by a third-party provider, and we do not store your full payment details.

Usage Data. We collect basic usage data such as feature engagement, session duration, and app performance metrics to improve the Service. This data is anonymized and is not tied to your recordings or notes.

Notes and Content. Your AI-generated notes, folders, chat history, and preferences are stored under your account to enable syncing across devices and cross-session memory features.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide and improve Noted's features — generating notes, powering the AI chatbot, enabling cross-session memory, and syncing your content across devices. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your recordings, transcripts, or notes to train AI models unless you explicitly opt in to such a program.

On-Device Processing

A core part of Noted's architecture is on-device processing. Where supported, audio transcription and note generation happen locally on your machine. This means your audio never leaves your device in those cases, and Noted works even when you are offline.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. Access to user data within our team is limited to what is necessary to operate and support the Service.

Data Export and Deletion

You can export your notes, transcripts, and calendar data to platforms like Notion and Google Drive at any time. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Third-Party Services

Noted may integrate with third-party platforms (such as Zoom, Google Meet, Notion, and Google Drive) at your direction. When you connect a third-party service, that service's own privacy policy governs how they handle your data. We only share the minimum information necessary to enable the integration you requested.

Recording and Consent

Noted's recording features are designed to operate discreetly on your device. We do not join calls, send notifications to other participants, or indicate to anyone else that a recording is taking place. You are solely responsible for complying with all applicable recording consent laws in your jurisdiction. We strongly encourage you to understand the laws that apply to you before using Noted's recording features.

Children's Privacy

Noted is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of Noted after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
